What If… Everything Is Marketing…

Over the years I’ve trained my brain to look for marketing and business lessons… pretty much everywhere.
And there are some great examples to learn from.
For years, I marveled at Carnival Cruise Lines and all the marketing they did. Some of it’s very subtle and some of it’s more obvious. From the minute you book your cruise to the second you get off the ship they are marketing to you in so many ways.
I’ve gained marketing and business lessons from watching movies and series on Netflix – and I’m not talking about documentaries… shows like “Designated Survivor” and “All American”.
For the past couple of years, I’ve been watching what Peloton is doing. It’s fascinating.
There are so many levels to running a company. So many little nuances that can make big differences in your business. So many of these often go unseen… especially to people who don’t own businesses.
And when it comes right down to it, it’s All Marketing.
What if you thought of everything you do in your business as marketing? Every decision you make, everything you promote, everything you post…
All of it!
It really is all marketing – you just have to shift your mindset to think about it a little differently.
This became even more apparent to me in the past several months as I watched Peloton take one of the instructor’s pregnancies and offer first time pre-and post-natal classes.
Then I watched as they did the same thing with another instructor’s wedding.
The personas that are built around the classes, the classes that are offered, the instructors… all offshoots of the companies marketing, vision and plan.
It’s all out there. You just have to look for it. And then ask yourself how you can apply the lesson to your business.
Do you make it a habit to look for these kinds of lessons in your everyday life? And then use them to grow your business?
