Time To Refresh…

Spring has definitely sprung in Georgia.

The pollen count was over 14,000 this past weekend. That shattered the previous record of over 9,000. Everything’s covered in yellow.

As I was washing all that yellow off my car Saturday, I started thinking about how we all need to wash things off in our businesses once in a while.

How often do you take a look at your business and make adjustments?

I’m not talking about your marketing campaigns here – those you should be constantly adjusting based on your numbers.

I’m talking about really looking at your business – from the top down – and analyzing whether you should keep doing what you’re doing, make some modifications, or make a complete shift.

Spring cleaning can mean a lot of things.

Maybe you just wash the pollen off the car (which we all know doesn’t last very long until you have to do it again)…make a few changes that may or may not stick over the long run.

Maybe you build a garage so you don’t have to wash your car as often…providing a longer term solution. Of course, you realize when you pull your car out of the garage and drive it, you’re still going to get pollen on your car. In business, this might be a new program, product or service – while still servicing the ones you currently have.

Maybe you move to another state where there isn’t pollen…make a big change in your business – where you do something completely different is sometimes an option – a really good one.

Just like the seasons, nothing is permanent – in life or business.

The pollen will go, hotter temperatures will arrive, before the leaves start to fall in the spring, and winter will return.

We know what’s coming with the change in seasons…somewhat.

Your business is much the same way…you just have to take the time and energy to look!
(Don’t bury your head in the sand…the changes are coming anyway – and you want to be prepared…right?)
