In honor of Women’s History Month, I’m sharing some of the women who have inspired me.
From a business perspective, Arianna Huffington is one of those women. She is the co-founder of The Huffington Post and is now the founder and CEO of Thrive Global.
I love what she’s doing at Thrive where her mission is to change the way we work and live in the delusion that burnout and stress is the price we have to pay for success.
I remember reading in her book “Thrive” (one of 15 she’s written) about her realizing that in her quest to “have and do it all” she was actually focusing on the wrong things.
This from a woman who is on the Time Magazine’s list of the world’s 100 most influential people and the Forbes Most Powerful Women list.
Arianna has been a go-getter pretty much all her life.
Originally from Greece, she moved to England when she was 16 and graduated from Cambridge University with an M.A. in economics. At 21, she became president of the famous debating society, the Cambridge Union.
I love that Arianna went from somebody who was burning the candle at both ends to somebody who is now showing others that you can thrive without doing that. A lesson that’s sometimes hard for us driven women to get.
Here are two quotes from Arianna that strike me…
“Failure is not the opposite of success; it’s part of success.”
“Ours is a generation bloated with information and starved for wisdom.”
