I don’t know how I have managed to have “A Return to Love,” by Marianne Williamson on my book shelf for so long without reading it but I’m sure glad I read it now.
To me, this is a book that should be a must read for all human beings.
As I make my own journey and find myself transforming and learning how to “be” instead of always “doing” this book came at exactly the right time for me.
I love people, life and everything about it. Because I am also very focused and task oriented, I can sometimes be unconscious to the fact that there people involved in every aspect of life. It’s not on purpose, I just sometimes forget one of the most important lessons I have to remind myself of and that is that everyone wants to feel significant, and part of my responsibility is to make everyone I meet, talk to and interact with feel that way.
I was reminded of this in A Return to Love” on numerous occasions when Marianne Williamson talks about putting love first in everything and that as humans, we all have the same job…and that is to contribute to the healing of the world and we do that my ministering to human hearts.
It struck me, what better way is there to minister to human hearts with love than in our businesses. To be of service and to contribute is one of the goals of all great businesses.
Marianne Williamson says “a person who succeeds in any area is only creating more of a possibility for others to do the same.” People helping people, many times, whether they are meaning to or not. How truly powerful that statement is.
So many times, we get caught up in our pasts that we forget the only thing that really matters about our pasts is what we have done with what happened. The important thing is what we learned from our past and what we are doing about it today. We get to choose whether those things make us more compassionate or how we use it to affect the world in a positive way.
I could go on and on about this book because of all the things in it that stood out to me, but I won’t.
Here is my challenge to you. Don’t wait until and illness, death, loss of a relationship or something else happens before you wake up to love and compassion and healing. Instead, do it now. Make a difference and let others know they do too.
Then, read this book, if you haven’t already and come back and let me know your thoughts – it will be well worth the time it takes to read. Not to be dramatic, but I think this book will change a lot of lives.
