“The Four Spiritual Laws of Prosperity” was recommended to me by a friend and business colleague who I asked for some mindset books. She gave me a list of a few books I hadn’t already read and said she thought I’d like this one…she was right.

Edwene Gaines is a Unity minister now but has had quite a journey on her way there and sure seems to have figured some things out along the way too.

I appreciate not only her story, but the inclusion of case histories and examples of how others applies these four laws as well that Edwene Gaines included in the book.

The four laws, in case you are wondering, are:

  • Tithing
  • Forgiveness
  • Goal Setting
  • Finding Your Divine Purpose

While I enjoyed this entire book, I especially like how Edwene Gaines described Divine Purpose. I have seen many people struggle to figure out their purpose and agonize over this issue. Edwene says that you can sort of figure it out along the way and that it might even change and alter as you move through your life and all of its stages. I think this is a great way to look at this concept – which at times, for some of us, seems like such a vast and overwhelming concept.

In“The Four Spiritual Laws of Prosperity,” Edwene really stresses tithing and the importance of it in our pursuit of prosperity. What I really like about it though, is that she leaves the door open to tithing to anybody, group, or organization, who you feel like has helped you in your spiritual growth. That leaves the door open to those of us who consider ourselves more spiritual than religious who might not feel like we have a particular church or religion we want to tithe to on a regular basis.

Under the area of forgiveness, Edwene stresses that you should start with yourself. I love that, because so many of us tend to be so hard on ourselves (probably way too hard on ourselves), especially those of us who are entrepreneurs, small business owners, and achievers of all kinds.

Another thing I really enjoyed about the book was that sporadically throughout the book there are inspirational quotes.  Being a quote person, I’m always curious as to what inspires others and I find great inspiration, comfort and motivation in quotes.

Although, at first glance, this book might not seem to be a business book (which, by the way, it’s perfectly acceptable to read things other than business and doing so will even help you grow more) the principals and the laws it discussed can certainly be applied to your life as well as your business.

I, for one, love books that I can apply to every aspect of my life.
