Book Review of “Win: The Key Principles to Take Your Business From Ordinary to Extraordinary” by Frank I. Luntz

You know when your kindle tells you you have 634 marks and notes in a book that you have gotten a lot out of that book, and that’s what mine says for Frank Luntz’s book “Win: The Key Principles to Take Your Business From Ordinary to Extraordinary.”
There was indeed a lot about this book that I found very interesting and intriguing, but before I start to tell you about that, I want to tell you one of the things that bothered me a little bit about this book. And, it might seem silly to some, and even I probably wouldn’t have felt this way even just a few short months ago, but it did bother me a bit how much Frank Luntz used the word “winner.”
Now, I believe in winning and losing and even the lessons it teaches us – both as children and adults, but there is something that bugs me a bit when we start to apply that term to people themselves.
That being said, there was a lot to like about this book as well.
One of the things I really liked was his simple formula for leadership – which is says is to listen, learn, help and lead. Simple, straight-forward and to the point, just like I like most things.
This was really a book about not accepting or standing for the status quo. And, that’s something all small business owners and entrepreneurs can certainly relate to, as we have to stay on top of changes and what’s current or we risk falling behind and being out of touch with our clients and prospects.
“Win” is a book about business but it’s also a book about leadership and excellence and passion and all things that make us great leaders in our lives and in our businesses…in our families and in our communities too for that matter.
I could go on and on about this book, but I won’t. I’ll just recommend you read it and take from it as much as you possibly can. At the very least, you will a lot of research and information obtained from a lot of great leaders of our time.
