Do You Quit Too Early?

Quitting isn’t something I am very familiar with…as a matter of fact I may be the person who holds on too long to things…but I always fight for what I believe in and what I want!
Do you?
I remember quitting the band my freshman year in high school. There was no way for me to play sports and be in the band – there were too many conflicts. And, while the band was ok, I loved playing sports…I never had that same passion for playing my saxophone (it was just the instrument my mom played and she thought it was a good idea for me to learn an instrument).
Quitting the band was probably the first time I went against my parents’ wishes in a big way. Mom was adamant that I be in the band, but my passion was playing sports. I was a 3 sport letter winner in high school – field hockey (in the fall), basketball (in the winter) and softball (in the spring and all summer long).
I discussed this dilemma with my parents but mom wouldn’t budge. And band and summer practices were getting really old. With band camp quickly approaching I took the plunge and walked into the band director’s office one morning before practice, handed him my uniform and told him I was quitting to focus on sports.
I don’t remember exactly what he said to me. I just remember going home and telling my mom what I had done. It all ended up ok and over time she was ok with it. Sports turned out pretty good for me and I never regretted my decision.
Sometimes, in our business lives, we have to make hard decisions about when to stop doing things that we thought would work better than they did, or things that worked for somebody else but didn’t pan out for us. The key is to know when to stop and when to keep testing and tweaking so things will work.
There are times when taking the path less followed works well and there are times with the fork in the road isn’t the one to take at all.
Most of us, at times, need help seeing the bigger picture in making these kind of decisions in our businesses.
That’s exactly what you’ll get at the “Strategic Path To Profits™,” event November 15-16, in Atlanta, Georgia.
There are 9 seats left to the event that might just change your 2019 and your business future forever…
…big statement? Yes, but it’s true…
