It Ain’t That Serious

Last week, I came across an interview with Queen Latifah and she was asked what the best advice she ever received was.
Her response (in much shorter order than she said it) was that early in her career when she was upset about something a member of her team (who is still with her) said to her… “It ain’t that serious.” That was the best advice she ever got.
It got me thinking about something a business associate said once that has stuck with me. It was something to the effect of “nothing is ever as bad or as good as we think it is.”
That thing you’re afraid to do, that new thing you want to try but aren’t quite sure about, all the things you’re hesitating to do… just take the step and do it.
No matter how it turns out, tomorrow will come and you’ll move forward in your life and business.
I have a good friend who’s a cancer survivor who says, “I didn’t survive cancer to die from stress”.
Owning a business can be stressful. And it’s a serious matter – since your livelihood (and maybe that of your family) depends on it. Just don’t let it take the fun out of your life… or your business.
