Systems in your business are critically important. For efficiency. For consistency. For productivity. For growth.
And so much more.
Last Friday night I was watching the new Women’s 3X3 (read three X three, not 3 on 3) league, called Unrivaled, and the coaches in the huddles and the commentators kept talking about the importance of following the system.
It immediately caught my attention – probably because I talk about systems so much.
I have to admit, I never thought about sports as “systems”.
Strategy is a big part of sports – that I have always understood.
As I thought about it, I realized how different the systems were that each team is running.
It’s not different in our businesses.
We all need systems. And systems inside systems in our businesses.
As usual, business mimics life.
Systems are what make your business work and run the way you want it to.
Systems allow everybody to be on the same page because they know where they’re headed, why and what the ultimate mission or goal is.
When systems aren’t followed, it creates a disjointed approach and poor results.
Just like you can’t drive a car in more than one direction at a time, your business can’t move in multiple directions all at once.
And it your team isn’t all working together toward the same goal, in the same system, well…
You’re going to end up with turnovers, fouls, and a losing season.
Or in business terms, you end up with a loss of focus and direction, programs and services that aren’t appealing and ultimately failures that cause your business profits.
