Maybe you’ve done some online or offline research, or just a general observation, and noticed there are a lot of businesses out there.  And, maybe you’ve noticed some, or maybe many of those businesses are just like yours.  Does this worry you?

If you’re doing things in your business that set you apart, you really shouldn’t be worried at all.  When you do things in your business that set you apart, that give you even the slightest edge over your competition, you’ll see a huge difference in the way people – your clients – respond to you.

And, one of the keys to having a successful business is doing things that set you apart, that give your business that slight edge.

So, for example, maybe you have a mastermind group.  What do you do with them that’s different than the next person in your arena who is also conducting mastermind groups?  Maybe you take your group to exotic places, places they wouldn’t see on their own, or trips they wouldn’t have taken.  Maybe you take them on a cruise.  Whatever you do that sets you a notch above the competition is going to make a big difference.

Maybe you don’t have a mastermind group.  What do you do in your business, though, that’s a notch above your competition?  Maybe you have a yard service or some other kind of service business – no matter the business there’s something you can do, something you can offer, that will make you stand out and set you apart from all the rest.

Maybe you give your clients a plant to put in their yard, or to hang in their home, maybe you sprinkle weed eater on the grass to help prevent weeds at no extra charge when you complete your service each time.  Whatever it is that makes your clients say, “I absolutely love what you do.”  It just needs to be something that shows them they’re important to you.

Instead of looking at how other businesses out there are like yours, look at what they’re doing and look at what they’re not doing.  Think of the things you could be doing that give your business a higher perceived value than the others in your niche.

When you really use this strategy of setting yourself apart, being just a little different and giving your business a slight edge, you’re going to see a big response from your clients.  You’re going to see your business catapult and become a big success.

So, really think about what makes your business different from the others in your industry, and if you can’t see a difference, do something to make a difference.
